Description
We are now looking for a Principal Analyst with excellent communication and market research skills to act as both an analyst and a thought leader producing written deliverables, consulting and presentations for clients and industry groups. This Principal Analyst will focus on service provider strategies for Western Europe (France, Italy, U.K., Germany and Spain). The Principal Analyst will provide thought leadership in the area of telecom operator strategy, including network planning, operations and services. This role will be focused to define and drive the Western European research agenda and continue to help differentiate the research value proposition with customers and prospects. Internally, this person will be a member of the Research leadership council and work closely with the head of Research to influence and align analysts to the key themes of the connectivity revolution. This candidate will be expected to lead syndicated and custom business development efforts in the region in collaboration with Yankee Group sales.
Ideally, this candidate will have a mix of technical, business, marketing and operational experience working in the telecom industry. The Principal Analyst will work with analysts on several teams to ensure seamless coverage of related topics. This candidate will be responsible for helping drive the companies research agenda in areas such as telecom business strategy, operations and service strategy. He or she will help provide insight for the clients into market trends including user-centric Tier 1 operator strategy, network systems planning and evolution, go-to-market strategies, device evolution and back-office systems.

- Communicating research findings to clients and industry groups via thought-provoking and insightful presentations
- Acting as an expert resource to the press for intelligence on industry trends
- Responding to inquiries from clients on issues relating to Western European operators\\\’ go-to-market business strategy
- Developing, maintaining and managing models, forecasts and monitor instruments for key technology categories
- Driving business development opportunities by translating research and analysis into consulting and custom research opportunities
- Attending events and staying heavily involved in consulting business development and delivery
- Serving as a member of the Research leadership team and working closely with the head of Research to influence and align analysts to the key themes of the connectivity revolution
- Enhancing the value to its key audience, the network operators and network builders
- Executing company objectives while delivering superior service to customers
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have 7 to 10 years of progressive experience working in market research, market analysis or strategy consulting, or in a telecommunications vendor environment, with a focus on the telecommunications industry.
Specific requirements include:
- Writing Skills: Must possess excellent written communication skills. Candidate will be expected to present research findings, actionable recommendations and advice to clients via concise and compelling research reports and blog entries.
- Presentation Skills: Must possess excellent verbal communication skills. Candidate will be expected to present research findings, actionable recommendations and advice to clients via executive presentations, consulting engagements and regular interactions with press and media.
- Organization and Planning Skills: Must be able to plan and manage individual workload in a coordinated effort with team members to reach internal and external deliverable goals and timelines.
- Research and Analytical Skills: Must be proficient at primary and secondary research, with experience in consulting. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with SPSS and/or MarketSight is a plus.
- Management Skills: Must have experience hiring and leading analysts, including coaching and developing research skills, accountability and other important qualities. Must have experience collaborating in a team and working with managers as peers in leading the larger organization.
- Language Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in additional European languages is a plus; preference for French, Spanish and German fluency.
